This is a very Friday-ish band. And I truly like it.

A wonderfully gloomy song from the Icelandic band, Sólstafir. Perfect for a Monday morning.

Halló, this is Iceland.
Many humans think that computers are never wrong. But if your computer says that “skyr” is not acceptable, then do not believe it. Because it is just not true.

Games are systems that challenge us and make us grow as persons. If you are capable of learning the system of a new game, you are developing and showing a certain skill that is very relevant to the world as it is. The world is full of systems, systems that we have to know about and realize how work to live better lives - and also to make them better.

I know, this is uncharacteristic of me (as I mostly like loud music) but me and my 3 year old watched this several times yesterday - I think I’ll arrange music classes for her as she was in awe the whole time.

This is a song worthy of notice.

Ó, mín flaskan fríða!
Flest ég vildi líða,
frostið fár og kvíða
fyrr en þig að missa.
Mundi’ ég mega kyssa
munninn þinn, þinn, þinn?
munninn þinn, þinn, þinn?
Munninn þinn svo mjúkan finn,
meir en verð ég hissa.

Rough translation:

Oh my beautiful bottle! - Ó, mín flaskan fríða!
I want to endure almost everything, - Flest ég vildi líða,
a cold blizzard and anxiety, - frostið fár og kvíða
instead of losing you. - fyrr en þig að missa.
Could I kiss - Mundi’ ég mega kyssa
your mouth, yours, yours? - munninn þinn, þinn, þinn?
your mouth, yours, yours? - munninn þinn, þinn, þinn?
Your mouth so soft and fine - Munninn þinn svo mjúkan finn,
I’m more than surpriced. - meir en verð ég hissa.

Halló, this is Iceland, and here is a picture from my Reykjavík.
The gray building on the ground is a famous church that the humans who visit me in flying machines take many photographs of. (It was made by a man called Guðjón Samúelsson, for people who like to go to church.)
The gray buildings that float in my air are special flying machines called “space-ships”. (They were made by a human called Sig Vicious for people who like to play computer games.)
Bless bless,- Iceland
P.S. Here are more pictures that Sig made of space-ships floating over me.

A philosophical view perhaps?

I could live with having this worldview. Honest!!

The best the world as produced so far.

This has got to be the best thing ever. Now, to figure out the cost as I really want one :)

A new interest of mine.

I’ve taken interest in Icelandic poetry, specifically prosody. Why? Because it is a very interesting thing to look into and demands good knowledge of the language. Here is a lyric that can be read both forward and backwards:

“Fegin verðum bæði, bið

bindur okkar hlekki.

Slegin ótta vættir við

vera máttu ekki.

Háar raunir móður minnar,

mæðuvísu syngur.

Bláar varir, kólna kinnar,

krókna brotnir fingur.

Vakið angist hefur hann,

hryggur, votur hvarmur.

Hrakið hefur margan mann,

mætan, bugað harmur.

Flótta hafið langan, látin,

liðin nú þau hafa.

Ótta, reiði, gremju grátin,

galtóm augun stafa.”

Skálmöld does that pretty wonderfully here (and they own the lyrics).
